This is the Life Guards memorial at Zandvoorde, Belgium. The Savage Club member Philip Brocklehurst was wounded in the action commemorated here, though he survived the war.

Vimy Ridge battlefield and memorial, photographs (c) the author 2018. The view in the bottom left is of the Loos battlefield. Vimy Ridge was a vital strategic point captured by Canadian troops commanded by General (later Field Marshal) Julian Byng, a member of the Savage Club.
This is the death notice for my great uncle, Sydney Ellis, who died at Gallipoli.
